Mauritius

Lovely relaxing week in Mauritius with a bit of holiday birding too! I saw 22 of the 119 species of birds including 7 of the 10 endemic species to Mauritius. Sadly man has destroyed 98% of the native forest environment in the last 400 years which has decimated the wildlife coupled with introduction of rats and mongoose.
The highlights were Pink Pigeon which was down to 10 bird in the 1990s, Mauritius Fody, Mauritius Bulbul, Mauritius Olive White-eye, Mauritius Grey White-eye, Mauritius Cuckooshrike and Mauritius Parakeet
