Stunning Cornwall

What a weekend! Perfect weather and westerly winds meant it was third time very lucky for out seabird trip. On route to Cornwall we bagged Dartford Warbler at Woodbury Common Devon and Cirl Bunting at Prawle Point.
However the 8 hour pelagic on Saturday was the highlight. Epic views of Great Shearwater, Cory's Shearwater and Storm Petrel were enjoyed. We also had a Black Tern and a single Balearic Shearwater on way back to Penzance. We also had a couple of Sunfish off the boat. Thanks to Paul Semmens for organising such a brilliant trip.
On the Sunday we did a short seawatch from Pendeen and had 3 further Cory's Shearwater, 2 Great Shearwater and 2 Balearic Shearwater

Little Bittern

Back from a week in the South West on holiday. Managed to fit in some birding including a visit to Ham Wall where I saw a male Little Bittern in flight after I was about to give up. Incredibly elusive birds showing for a few seconds usually in the morning only, so that was very lucky! Other birds of note were a Great White Egret, Lesser Whitethroat and Marsh Harrier.
Went to Arne later in week and had views of a Dartford Warbler but again no opportunity to get a photo.
Plenty of Stunning butterflies in Somerset and Devon many more than in the North west of England.

Golden Pheasant

What a day spent yesterday in Norfolk and Suffolk. First off was a Golden Pheasant at the Wolferton Triangle. We bagged Red-legged  and Grey Partridge from the car. Then onto the coast where we failed to pick up a rough-legged buzzard at Burnham Overy Staithe and also failed to see the Shorelark seen recently at Salthouse. We did see however 25 Snow Buntings on the shingle.
We then headed south to Dunwich Heath where we were quickly onto 2 Dartford Warblers although we were hampered by the cold fog which made photography impossible. Lifers for me and Dave. We finished off at Waveney Forest and had cracking close views of a Rough-legged Buzzard flying past despite the dense fog.
