Wood Warbler and Owls
Had a nice afternoon birding. Wood Warbler trilling its heart out at Langsett and then enjoyed watching a Little owl and Long eared Owl both hunt successfully on a local moor

Juvenile Long-eared Owl
What a privilege to watch a Long-eared Owl family. First I saw 2 of probably three young calling. Then both parents came in and flew round before entering the forest. Fantastic!

Long eared Owl
Two young birds heard and one briefly glimpsed in my local conifer wood during an evening run

Hume's Leaf Warbler
Excellent Sunday birding trip to north east as usual. First off Long Eared Owl at Fairburn Ings. Also seen were a Green Woodpecker and a Willow Tit Then onto Whitley Bay for a very obliging Hume's Leaf Warbler. Like a slightly washed out Yellow browed warbler with a distinctive double syllable call. Also pleasant surprise of 2 Waxwings here too. We finished off with a Tundra Bean Goose at Boldon Flats and various ducks including a female Scaup at Tophill Low but sadly no Grey Phalarope. Final sighting was a hunting Barn Owl at dusk

Long-eared Owl
Myself, Tracy, Eleanor and cousin Dave had a nice walk at Dovestone and against all the odds we found a fantastic Long-eared Owl sat in a conifer. I hope it stays as conditions were rubbish for photography today and I will return on a brighter day. If anyone wants to know where it is then tough shit! You will have to find your own as I don't want this wonderful bird being disturbed by masses of idiots.
